New year, new blog

Welcome to the brand new makers house blog, a space that we hope will be filled with fun stories and a smattering of useful exhibiting information. This is a space for everyone; for makers who are just starting out, those who are further along the line and those who don’t make anything at all but who love to experience great design and want to know a bit more about what goes into making the things in their lives.

So what have you got to look forward to?

We will be running a regular feature going behind the scenes at some of our favourite makers studios and digging deep to find the process behind their products. This will be a great opportunity to see all the chaos behind those perfect finished products and experience the amazing creativity that it takes to drive a product into the world.

There will also be exhibition updates as well as top tips for those of you just starting out with this exhibiting malarky, hopefully enabling you to skip some of the mistakes that we have made along the way!

We would love to hear from you too – whether you would like your studio to be featured or have seen a great exhibition that you think we should know about. Send us an email or leave a comment below and we will get working on it!

So ahead of all that exciting content we will leave you with the drawing of the concept for the very first Makers House showcasing the process behind our product - we’ve come a long way since then and I am eternally amazed that this chaotic sketch ever became a real thing!
